This visually splendid coffee-table book is in its own way as stately and ceremonious as the Naval Academy itself. It covers the Annapolis year from the grueling introduction of the plebes to the academy to the graduation of the senior midshipmen 10 months later. We learn much about the buildings, curriculum, customs, and people (including a brigade of midshipmen now integrated by both sex and race) of one of the fundamental institutions of the U.S. Navy. This is not a "warts and all" view, to be sure, but the amount of information and the quality of the photographs compel us to overlook that and certainly make the tall, slim book invaluable for popular naval collections.

This book is a very nice addition to anyone's collection that relates to our Service Academies.
